Privacy policy
Last updated: 9 February 2026
Silka (“we”, “us”) is designed to help you stay close to the people who matter using gentle nudges and relationship‑nurturing tools. Privacy is a core part of that design.
Summary
We do not sell your data.
We do not run ads.
Your data stays on your device unless we clearly tell you otherwise.
If you choose to grant access to your contacts, Silka uses that data only on‑device to help you create and manage your list of people.
What information Silka uses
Silka may access or process the following categories of information, depending on how you use the app:
1) Contacts (optional)
If you grant permission, Silka can read your device contacts so you can quickly add people you want to keep in touch with.
Silka does not upload your contacts to our servers.
You can use Silka without granting contacts access by adding people manually (if that option exists in your build).
2) User‑created content (on‑device)
Silka may store information you enter in the app, such as names, notes, and preferences for nudges.
This information is stored locally on your device.
3) Diagnostics (only if enabled in the app build)
If we include crash reporting or analytics in a particular build, those providers may receive limited technical information (such as device type, OS version, crash logs).
If/when we add this, we will update this policy and our App Store privacy disclosures accordingly.
What we do not collect
As currently designed, Silka does not collect:
Your precise location
Your browsing history
Your contact list on our servers
Advertising identifiers for tracking
Sensitive personal data (unless you type it into notes yourself)
How we use information
We use the information described above to:
Help you organise your relationships and stay in touch
Provide app features (like choosing a person from your contacts)
Improve stability and fix bugs (only if diagnostics are included)
Data sharing
We do not sell personal data.
We do not share your personal data with third parties except:
If required by law, regulation, or legal process
If you explicitly choose to use a third‑party feature we add in future (and we will disclose it clearly)
Data storage and retention
Data you create in Silka is stored on your device.
If you delete the app, your locally stored Silka data is typically removed as part of the uninstall process.
If you use iCloud device backups, Apple may include app data in your backup depending on your device settings. (We do not control Apple’s backup system.)
Your choices and controls
Contacts permission: You can enable or disable contacts access in your device settings at any time.
Delete your data: You can delete the app to remove locally stored app data. (If we later add an in‑app delete function, we’ll document it here.)
Children’s privacy
Silka is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
International users
We are based in the United Kingdom. If we later introduce any server‑based features, we will update this policy with details about data processing locations and safeguards.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date and, where appropriate, provide additional notice in the app.
