The Silka Design Philosophy

Silka is built on a simple idea: relationships are the most important thing in our lives, and technology should help us care for them, not complicate them.

Privacy first
Your data belongs to you. Nothing leaves your device unless you give clear consent, and when we ask, we explain why. Privacy isn’t a feature, it’s the foundation.

Not a to-do list
Silka is not a productivity app. We will never shame you for missing a reminder or turning off notifications. Relationships are not tasks, and the app will never treat them that way.

Free and fair
The free version of Silka will always be fully-functional. Premium features give more choice and depth, but the basics will never be locked away and will always facilitate our core mission. 

Optional AI
Artificial intelligence can be useful, but only when you choose it. All AI features are off by default, and they always will be. If you turn them on, you’ll know exactly what they do.

Positive reinforcement
Use the app for what you want to achieve and get on with your day. Some apps may use streaks, slot machines and other forms of manipulation. You’ll never find these in Silka.  

Simple at the surface, deep underneath
Easy to start with, rich if you want to go further. Power is discoverable, never forced.

Delight in small ways
Relationships matter deeply, but remembering them can still be light and joyful. Silka should make you smile, not sigh.
