About Silka

Technology should help us care for our relationships, not complicate them.
Silka was built on a simple idea: relationships are the most important thing in our lives, and staying connected should feel human, not mechanical.

Silka began with a personal question:
Am I being a good friend?

Its founder, Chris Blumzon, is autistic and has long felt the quiet anxiety of “out of sight, out of mind.” Not because he didn’t care, but because modern life is loud, attention is fragmented, and executive function isn’t always predictable.

Traditional productivity apps made this worse. They turned relationships into tasks. Reminders into guilt. Silence into shame.

Silka was built to offer something different.

  • A softer structure
  • A kinder rhythm
  • A way to stay close without pressure

The Silka Design Philosophy

Every decision we make is guided by a simple belief: connection should feel easier, more natural, and more human.

Privacy first

Your data belongs to you. Nothing leaves your device unless you give clear consent, and when we ask, we explain why. Privacy isn’t a feature. It’s the foundation.

Not a to-do list

Silka is not a productivity app. We will never shame you for missing a reminder or turning off notifications. Relationships are not tasks, and the app will never treat them that way.

Free and Functional

The free version of Silka will always be fully functional.

Optional AI

AI features are off by default, and always will be.

The Silka Team

It all started with a vision to make communication smarter and more seamless. Through countless hours of brainstorming, development, and collaboration.

Frequently Asked Questions

The app is brand new, so 'frequently' is possibly misleading.

How does it all work?

Silka helps you stay in touch with the people who matter most through small, timely nudges. You choose a few people, set how often you’d like to connect, and Silka quietly reminds you when the moment feels right. There are no feeds or distractions, just a simple way to turn good intentions into consistent, meaningful connection.

How is Silka different from other social apps?

Most social apps are designed to capture attention and encourage constant engagement. Silka is designed to do the opposite. It focuses on a small circle of meaningful relationships and removes the noise of feeds, likes, and performance. The goal isn’t more interaction, it’s better, more thoughtful connection.

Is my data private?

Yes. Privacy is fundamental to how Silka works. Your contacts and data stay on your device and are never uploaded, sold, or shared with third parties. If you choose to enable AI features, they run entirely on your phone. Silka is designed so you remain in control of your information at all times.

Do I need to message people through the app?

No. Silka doesn’t replace how you communicate, it supports it. When you’re reminded to reach out, you can use whatever method feels right to you, whether that’s iMessage, WhatsApp, a call, or something else. Silka simply helps you remember and act at the right time.

Is Silka free to use?

Silka is currently free during the beta period, with full access to premium features. After launch, there will be a paid version, but beta users will receive three months of premium free as a thank you for helping shape the product. The goal is to keep Silka simple, valuable, and fair.

Who is Silka for?

Silka is for anyone who wants to stay closer to the people who matter, but finds that life often gets in the way. It’s especially useful if you value your relationships but don’t want the pressure or noise of traditional social media. If you’ve ever thought “I should reach out more,” Silka is designed for you.
